8.1. RELEVANCY OF LABORATORY ACTIVITIES AUTOMATION
Various specialized solutions exist today in the field of information collection and automation of quality management processes, covering the production process, data related to management and logistics, the process of laboratory research. Quality control is carried out by testing and analytical laboratories, usually with modern equipment and staffed with highly qualified specialists. Efficient use of analytical control tools is difficult due to the common use of the «old» information processing system at laboratories, focused on classical methods of analysis with manual data collection and processing, filling numerous handwritten records in laboratory journals. The efficiency, competence and productivity of such laboratories are insufficient due to the lack of necessary information support for quality management. Therefore, laboratory information systems (LIS) are of special importance, which allows using information capabilities of the existing laboratory capacity fully. These systems cover the entire spectrum of laboratory and research suite needs and provide integration of laboratory data and processes into the general information environment of the enterprise. Presently, the local industry in the laboratory practice automation field is lagging behind the Western manufacturers, but gradually catching up. In this regard, today's outstanding task is to integrate various information technologies into the overall production process and to create a unified data environment for the enterprise.
