Hydrocephalus (from Greek hydros — liquid; kephale — head) — excessive accumulation of CSF in intracranial spaces — cerebral ventricles, subarachnoid slits and cisterns (Fig. 6.1). The hydrocephalus is caused by abnormal CSF resorption, circulation and occasionally production.
