The continuous development of medicinal chemistry, molecular biology and pharmaceutical science as a whole entails the constant renewing and replenishing of drug assortment. This, in turn, requires the use of the range of modern chemical, biological, physical and physico-chemical methods in order to ensure drug quality, efficacy and safety.
For this purpose, the State Pharmacopoeia, the main standard code in quality control and drug standardization, is issued and updated in Russia.
The present textbook comprises all of the above: traditional methods of drug quality control as well as novel state-of-the-art analytical methods that are included in the 14th Edition of the State Pharmacopoeia and foreign Pharmacopoeias.
Information is set out in a classic style based on the interrelation of structure, production, properties, dosage forms and parameters, quality standards, methods of analysis.
The aim of this textbook is to develop competence in students of drug quality control through compounds of various nature and structure. The textbook is not aimed at addressing all up-to-date registered drugs since this data is presented both in the Pharmacopoeia and regulatory documentation.
The textbook is intended for foreign students enrolled in the specialty 33.05.01 - Pharmacy, and can be of value for residents, doctoral students, pharmacists and students from related specialties.
