4.1. Introduction

Like any other occupation, the work of healthcare providers represents a totality of factors of from the work itself, and the environment. Environmental factors, under certain conditions, can be risk factors for disease and injury. The severity, intensity of work, and specific regimen are the most important characteristics of working in healthcare. In addition, medical workers are responsible for the health and lives of patients who are at a medical facility.

It is not possible to completely eliminate the permanent influence of negative occupational factors on the human, but it can be reduced through a variety of protective measures.

The life and health hazards for patients and staff at medical facilities can be reduced or eliminated by using security equipment, treatment and prevention procedures, life support systems and systems that increase human resistance to negative environmental effects.

4.2. Characteristics of negative occupational factors of medical workers

During their work healthcare providers can suffer from an impact of physical, chemical, biological and psychophysiological factors.

Negative physical factors include mechanical, thermal, microclimatic, radiation, acoustic factors, as well as vibration, effect of aerosol, disturbed natural and artificial lighting, electric shock, etc.

The environment of medical facilities is full of dangerous chemical factors. These factors include disinfectants, antibiotics, vitamins, hormones, enzymes, protein solutions, inhalation anesthetics, chemicals that can, under certain conditions, cause abnormality and lead to the development of occupational diseases and injuries.
