Surgery is an intervention on the tissues mainly of mechanical and physical characteristics for conduction of diagnostic or treating procedures at the pathologic site.
3.1. Preoperative preparation
Presurgical preparation aims to decrease the risk of complications both during surgery and in the postsurgical period.
The presurgical period includes two main blocks: diagnostic and preparatory ones. The above-specified blocks can be performed consequently or in parallel.
The following objectives are resolved during the presurgical period:
► the diagnosis and indications to the surgery are established, its urgency and volume are determined;
► the state of all body systems is assessed, concomitant pathology is revealed;
► psychological, somatic and special patient's preparation (by indications) to the forthcoming surgery is performed.
